The innovation is all about how we leverage the emerging and assistive technologies to enable the indoor navigation for visually challenged people, especially where No GPS exists. iBuddy works as a 'digital stick' for a visually impaired person and provide interactive navigation guidance using context aware devices like beacons and sensors. One of the key features is its eye-free user interface with one touch swipe and select. Text to speech and voice recognition are key components of iBuddy.

The idea started with visually challenged person but the same concept can be take it to next level by enabling the digital experience for digital customers.

How is the accessible innovative solution different from current practices or ways of solving the problem?

Indoor navigation is one of the biggest challenge for visually challenged people especially where no GPS available. Also, the mobile experience for a visually challenged require a difference way to interact with the mobile app (eye free user interface). So, our iBuddy will have a new way of thinking and motive is to bring the digital experience for visually challenged.

How is the accessible innovative solution new, different or unique in terms of the technology or implementation?

We are not reinventing the wheel. In fact we are using the existing technologies like beacons, mobile sensors etc. to enable the indoor navigation. Also, we are leveraging the machine learning and predictive analysis for steps counter and distance calculation.

How do you get the innovative solution to reach the target audience? Please elaborate on the your go to market strategy and which geographies do you currently work in and what are your future plans for marketing your innovation.

Business opportunities for iBuddy exist in retail banking, universities, hospitals, offices, airports, shopping malls, and so much more. Currently this is in beta phase and this concept can be applied for any industry. Also, the same concept can be leveraged for digital customers to enhance their digital experience.

What is the potential impact of the innovative solution on the lives of the target audience? Please elaborate by providing statistics of the current impact and the potential impact.

As per WHO there are 250 million people are visually impaired and the market projection for assitive technologies is about 55 bn. So, we see a strong business to bring this concept into reality and enabling the digital experience for visually impaired.
